Story No. 4 WALL OF DOLLS

Story No. 4 WALL OF DOLLS

'The Wall of Dolls in the district of Navigli in Milan is a permanent installation made as a tribute to women in Italy lost to violence and femicide hate crimes by their relative, partner or ex-partner.

With tortured and dismembered dolls hanging from a wire fence on the wall, each of the dolls represents these women. It shows stories and first hand testimonies by women who survived the brutality. The installation is not just a piece of art but a scary reality.

The artist responsible for the idea, was a victim of femicide herself. She reminds us that "we are not dolls". In 2016 Author Jo Squillo made the documentary "Wall of Dolls" to enforce to stop violence against women and to promote a cultural change.'
