Story No. 10 WTC

Story No. 10 WTC

'The World Trade Center (WTC), known
for the terror attack 9/11 in 2001, holds intriguing stories about the construction and the architecture.

One million cubic yards of landfill was removed when World Trade Center (WTC) in New York was built in the ‘70s.The Port Authority used this landfill to create the $90 million worth of land that became Battery Park City.

Underneath the WTC building, one of the world’s largest gold depository was housed, owned by a group of commercial banks. The depository contained about 11,8 tons of gold and 935,7 tons of silver.

“One World Trade Center” (former Freedom Tower) was built in 2006-2014, by architects: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (David M. Childs). The Danish architectural firm BIG is the architect of the “Two World Trade Center”, which will complete the reconstruction of the former WTC twin towers.'
