Story No. 12 THE VIOLINIST

Story No. 12 The Violinist

'The groundbreaking artwork ‘The Violinist’ bursting through the tiles floor in The Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam – was placed in secrecy overnight in 1991 by the anonymous street work artists De Onbekende Beeldhouwer. The former Dutch Queen Beatrix was one of the suspects. The bronze scuplture bears the inscription Music rises - As the toadstool storms its delicate hat through the harsh forest soil, the music inadvertently rises from the depths with force and breaks the marble”.

The violin is called the instrument of angels or the devil. In the orchestra the violin has the role of the queen. Scientists confirm that the sound stimulates the brain - both Albert Einstein and the fictive Sherlock Holmes played the violin.'
